Well, Scott and I are gearing up to meet with our amazing list of artists this week. I am really looking forward to hearing some of the wonderful ideas that they have come up with. For this years' show, we wanted to expand on the namesake of the past two events, BASE, and PRIMER. So we thought and thought, and came up with the name, FUNCTION. We were so pleased to find how many different meanings and usages it had. Not only does it include mathematical, and grammatical elements, but it can also be used as an expression of purpose and social gathering. We loved the idea of giving this broad range as a starting point for our artists, and a way to open up as many avenues of creative thought for them to build on. As a participant in last years' show, I am most looking forward to seeing how the artists react to all of the massive space they have to work with. Some of the more daring dreams come to fruition when you have the freedom to spread out.
